With over fifteen years of IT experience in various industries, I have in-depth expertise in system administration, network monitoring and automation. I have managed Windows server environments, configured Ubuntu systems and optimized device usage through PowerShell and Python scripts. My goal is to increase the reliability and efficiency of IT systems through innovative and practical solutions.

Providing IT support to users on-site and working from home, with a focus on Active Directory, Entra, Exchange and Office 365. Performing security tests to ensure NIS 2 compliance and risk mitigation. Managing patches and monitoring the upgrade to Windows 11 on all clients.

Administration and documentation of Windows servers, Office S365, Azure and Dynamics NAV as well as configuration and administration of two Ubuntu servers. Specialised in on-site and remote support for Office 365 (especially Outlook, Teams) and enterprise software. Responsible for notebook image creation, user accounts, and AD and Exchange tasks. Lead administrator for JAMF (certified) and InTune – management of Apple devices, app licences, remote locking and data deletion. Use of Excel for data analysis and combination of MDM and AD reports to ensure Windows updates and compliance. Optimisation of device and mobile phone usage to reduce costs. Administration of Citrix. Development of PowerShell and Python scripts, including GUI tool for password management.

Technician, MacOnline, Bad Sassendorf (2017 – 2020)

Automating workflows using Bash, Python and AppleScript to optimize inventory booking and data collection. Helped set up imaging software to improve the customer experience. Developed mobile Python tools for warehouse workers to maintain storage location via barcode scanning and inventory. Lead coding projects, including a Python 2 script to process thousands of XML system profiler files and create structured Excel reports. Performed hardware testing of incoming Apple devices.

Computer networks

I enjoy setting up physical networks at home (for NAS backups and port forwarding). I also use virtualisation software such as Hyper-V and Parallels to test concepts such as DHCP and DNS.

Cloud-Computing and WordPress

This WordPress website is hosted on an Ubuntu VM (on Oracle’s cloud service). More info – https://www.oracle.com/cloud/free/ – WordPress is an area I’m placing a significant focus on in 2025.

Scripting and automation

Used extensively to reduce the time spent on repetitive administrative tasks to a few minutes (instead of hours). Mainly using Powershell and Python.

I also have a LinkedIn Learning account and regularly take courses related to IT and also courses such as video editing.

I keep up to date on all major developments in the worlds of consumer and enterprise technology. Typically visit Ars Technica daily.

INTERESTS

Cycling

I have completed several long distance challenges to raise money for charity. In the summer of 2018, for example, I cycled 1600km across the UK in add of hospice care in Ireland, for more information see Go Fund Me. I usually cycle most days of the week and do most of the maintenance work myself.

Reading

Mainly fiction. I enjoy spending time introducing my young daughter to the English language through reading children’s stories.

Musik

Occasional guitar and Ukulele sessions, as well as visits to see live bands. Other interests include travel, photography and cinema.
